Take 4 four patches and arrange in a 2x2 grid and you end up with a 16 patch block.
There are multiple ways to make four patches (and thus the 16 patch).

The Fabric Cafe are responsible for the 3 Yard Quilts books. This is a series of books which take three one yard cuts of a dark, a medium and a light for each pattern to make a quilt. They also have a You Tube channel which I have to admit is a guilty pleasure. There they detail other kits which you can buy to make featured quilts. They give you a lot of ideas of the same quilt pattern with different colourways for different effects; and whilst I admit that I haven't actually bought any of their books yet (because I would rather spend my scarce money on fabric) I find it interesting how all the presenters seem to have a signature style. I find it sparks my ideas for the colours in my own quilts for when I can't find precuts and want to use yardage.
Whilst browsing on the home page I found they have some sew-a-longs so here they are all in one place.

This You Tube channel is a really great resource, Brenda offers free quilt block patterns twice a week, has a virtual sew room on Zoom which you can join and Brenda offers to speak for free (via video conference) to groups and guilds. She also has a shout out to other You Tube channels at the start of each video.
Alongside all of this she also does sew-a-longs for whole quilt patterns- these I have collected here in one place.

There are 14 videos in total - the project itself concentrates on using strings and foundation paper piecing. The download for the pattern pieces is found in the description below the video.
The pattern could also be used as a standard paper piecing pattern if you don't have strings- and shows how other paper piecing patterns could also be used with strings.....

The first iteration of this block came to my attention under the name red fish, after a bit of searching I also found some alternate variations under the block name of duck and ducklings. Choose the video from Brenda or the written instructions from Generations quilt patterns. Brenda's is a set size but you can see how it is sewn, the Generations one comes in three sizes 5, 7 1/2 and 10 inches. Both of these use an uneven 5x5 grid for the construction; for a variation that uses the even grid (and for more colour variations) go to this post here.
It is by a lovely lady to whom I subscribe on YouTube Brenda @ Conquering Mount Scrapmore who talks to groups for free and offers several FREE blocks each and every week (which I think are her own designs...) along with some sew alongs in the past. The video description contains all the cutting instructions. She definitely deserves more subscribers than she has!
