Jacob's ladder - A nine patch block

Jacobs ladder is a block which is based on a 3x3 grid and has sub units which are four patches and half square triangles.  Since it is a non-symmetrical block it is one which gives a lot of variations when it comes to layout with small diamonds, nested diamonds, chevrons and diagonal lines all possible from a simple edge to edge placement.
There are several variations based primarily on colour placement.

1. This is you tube tutorial from Nancy's Notions

2. This is the webpage from Patchwork Square.com which includes a web layout and uses whole squares in two of the corners

3. Missouri star has this video on the Jacob's Ladder remix

4.  This is the original from Missouri Star

5> Amanda Rolfe did a more modern colouration here

Fabric 406 did a short instead which includes example layouts at the end
