Grecian square/ Greek Cross - a nine patch variation

This is a nine patch pattern which uses half square triangles in the four corners and half square rectangles in the four sides.  This block uses the same shapes and positions as the Churn Dash block but uses colour placement to create a different pattern.

To draft the Grecian Square/Greek Cross start with a 3 x 3 grid
Divide the side squares in half to form rectangles.
Divide the corner squares into half square triangles

2. This is from The Quilt Codex and uses a more two tone colouration to give a cross pattern instead.

Jacob's ladder - A nine patch block

Jacobs ladder is a block which is based on a 3x3 grid and has sub units which are four patches and half square triangles.  Since it is a non-symmetrical block it is one which gives a lot of variations when it comes to layout with small diamonds, nested diamonds, chevrons and diagonal lines all possible from a simple edge to edge placement.
There are several variations based primarily on colour placement.
